About Little Woo

Tidings of the future could be seen when Woo was very 'little', as she sometimes did song and dance numbers in the basement of her childhood home. No one took notice until she was caught by her horrified parents, singing "Like A Virgin" with gusto…wearing neon bangles, her mom’s bra and lots of ripped up pantyhose.

Dance itself would not become a part of Woo's life for two more decades, but Music was present early on in the form of classical training:  with eleven years of study in piano performance and theory (Royal Conservatory of Music Program) and teaching piano as a registered instructor for five years.

After completing a degree in film/tv production at Concordia University, Woo moved to Vancouver via a national screenwriting award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & TV.   Once on the west coast, music called again and she decided to pick up the guitar to explore the magic of the voice as a self-taught singer and songwriter.

Where there is music, dancing is never far behind. In late 2002, Woo discovered her love of dance by becoming a self-taught fusion bellydance performer. Shortly after, an intuition guided her to explore Burlesque and she was soon invited to perform a few shows with the Neverland Burlesque Society.  However, other projects interrupted this exploration until late 2005, when a series of fortunate events brought her back to Burlesque.

In November 2005, Woo created Burlesque Yoga as a conceptual project:  to show that any pursuit can be a form of spiritual exploration and practice.  The idea that some things are sacred while others are profane, is a limited perception of the true nature of our human experience.  There need not be such a division.

Aside from encouraging a paradigm shift, this program also bridged the various passions of Woo's life into a hybrid activity.  Burlesque Yoga encouraged men and women to express playfully, artistically and spiritually in the same breath.  The program supports the joy of expression, the beauty of sensuality, the passion for movement, the capacity for humor and the depth of the soul.

Since childhood, Woo has also been passionately studying spirituality, healing and energy principles. She is the founder and facilitator of the Epic Alchemy program, offering private sessions and group workshops in the art of transformation, healing and feeling bliss.
